Chapter One

Chapter One

Photos really add meaning to piece of article it comes with. I believe photos can change the world, mainly because it gives more detail and a better understanding of the actual situation at hand. For example if you talk about the effects of an earthquake means something, but if you add a photo of the disaster and how it left the area people understand more and can visualize it.

This photo above is a photo taken by an unknown author but found on this website http://www.gougeoninsurance.com/business-blog/bid/30653/4-Reality-Checks-from-Japan-s-Earthquake-Disaster it is a picture of the effects of an earthquake that hit! This effects me because one of my aunts houses got hit really bad during an earthquake and I remember going to help clean up and I was totally shocked. According to the one of the articles posted “36 stories that prove citizen journalism matters” ayoung boy states “photographs capture the sense of wonder in the world.” I thought that was a good quote because I agree with that statement and think photos really tell the true story.

“Sometimes a great photo can changethe course of history” this is a quote from the research question, “Do photographers change the world” I believe photographers do change the world; they make us see things in a different way. Usually it is a way to connect us all to one thing. This photo is a good example that shows how photographers change the world. This photo was taken to represent a protest and raise awareness to the people around the world.

Also according to the video on do photographers change the world, it raised a good point. Photography can persuade peoples opinions and on how they view things. Photography has a huge impact oh society because people believe what they see, if there is a picture to back something up you are more likely to believe it. According to the article “Censorship of war causalities in the U.S” the author said by posting pictures of the war and the injured people, the media took interest in the case and sent more help. They used photojournalism in a way to get more information out to the society and the public.
